We are Odisha’s No 1 media house established way back in 1984. We started operations from our Bhubaneswar-based office with a dedicated workforce which survived all odds to make it the numero uno newspaper year after year. Its flagship publication ‘Sambad’ is known for bringing in innovative ideas and new technology in publishing industry.
We are the one who introduced dak edition for the first time so as to reach out to mofussil areas in Odisha. This makes us the one to break stereotypes.
Besides print, Sambad Group has significant presence in television, FM radio, jatra (theatre), and digital media. We too have organizations involved in voluntary blood donation and popularizing Odia literature.

Saat ru Saturi Samaste Khusi brings news content for everyone irrespective of age. Prati Rabibara Rangara Dina swept in a new era by introducing colour edition of newspapers on Sundays. This paper has played a key role in creating positive impact on the society, exposing instances of corruption in top echelons of society and workplaces alike, year after year. Sambad has always stood by the Odias and will continue to fight for their cause.
KANAK NEWS is Odisha’s leading 24×7 news channel, with a finger on the political, economic, social nerve of the state. True to its motto, ‘Paribartanara Swara’, it strives to empower its viewers by being the voice of change and pursuing citizen-centric journalism.
Manjari is Odisha’s first Free-To-Air 24 hour Odia Entertainment Television channel from Sambad Group. The channel broadcasts a wide spectrum of genres such as family drama, music, movie, reality show, documentary and more. While designing our content, we emphasize on ideas that are relevant, engaging, entertaining and reflect on the channel’s tagline ‘Celebration of Relationship’.
Eastern Media Limited introduced Radio Choklate 104 FM in 2007, the first local Odia FM station with the tagline Dhum Mitha. Radio Choklate today is the No.1 FM station in Odisha and has successfully forged a bond with its listeners by prioritizing Odia culture and flavor in its content and music. The station has a variety of creative programs which has gained massive popularity amongst lakhs of Odias. Unique content like dramas, storytelling, creative social messaging and varied events for every segment, makes Radio Choklate the most loved FM station in the state.
The production house of Sambad Group has been instrumental in producing popular Ollywood movies. The quintessential Odia opera shows called Jatra are also an integral part of mass entertainment in Odisha. With dynamic actors, engaging plots, majestic set-ups and melodious musical scores, four Jatra troupes have made Eastern Opera a favourite amongst Odias.
With the objective of providing digital cable television network in every nook and corner of the state, EM Digital was launched in 2017 as an indigenous service provider. With affordable packages, it provides both SD and HD channels that can be easily customised by the consumers to suit their preferences.
Established in 2006, SSoMaC is a unit of Sambad-Ama Odisha Charitable Trust, approved by Department of Culture, Government of Odisha. The Institute’s mission is to educate students in a broad range of skills and concepts involving the gathering, editing and presentation of information, and prepare them for a career in journalism. While there is a strong emphasis on the “craft” of journalism, the curriculum is designed to help students draw on and supplement their basic education so they are better equipped to handle intelligently the fundamental issues of the day.
For the promotion of Odia language and culture, ‘Aama Odisha’ was set up on 17 July 1996. It became a platform that not only strived to popularise our language and culture, but also gave opportunities to budding writers in the state to print their articles and books. In 2006, ‘Aama Odisha’ launched its first blood donation drive to aid in the shortage of blood in Odisha. Today, this endeavour has become a defining identity of the socio-cultural organisation. ‘Aama Odisha’ has been receiving state-level awards for its best performance in field of collecting blood every year.
Sahitya Ghara is an innovative endeavour of the Sambad Group that compiles, preserves and promotes Odia language and literature across Odisha and other Odia-speaking regions of Jharkhand and West Bengal. Launched on 11 Nov 2011, this initiative has the aim of conducting literary activities in all the 30 districts of the state and has so far instituted 348 ‘Sahitya Gharas’.
